I have always been fascinated by and terrified of the deepest reaches of the ocean. Specifically the ocean floor, or to give it its proper name, the Abyssal Plane. It was from this fear that I had the inspiration to create the atmospheric horror game, The Irredeemable.
The Irredeemable is a spiritual successor to Midnight Sun and uses many of the same mechanics, but also implements an oxygen system and a much more unpredictable enemy and more atmospheric setting.
The player takes on the role of a lone explorer investigating a strange signal detected at the bottom of the ocean.
Visually, many of the game's interface elements were inspired by the movie Alien, as well as the intention to create the feeling of being hunted in an unfamiliar place.
